Lake Trasimeno is the fourth largest lake in Italy, between Rome (150Km) and Florence (120Km) and is surrounded by the rolling hills and medieval villages of Tuscany and Umbria.

The following towns and cities are nearby with their rich cultural heritage, shopping and of course great restaurants: Perugia (20km); Pienza (35km); Siena (70km); Orvieto (30km); Arezzo (40km); Cortona (10km).

Its administration is shared between the local councils of Castiglione del Lago, Città della Pieve, Magione, Paciano, Panicale, Passignano sul Trasimeno, Piegaro and Tuoro sul Trasimeno.

A procession on the evening of Good Friday through the streets of the village, which is illuminated by lights and bonfires. Those taking part in the procession are dressed in long hooded robes, with their feet in chains, and carry a crucifix on their backs.

The Battle of Trasimene, the first crushing defeat suffered by the Roman army, is re-evoked in a theatrical event, (Missione Annibale), that recreates the setting and atmosphere of war, making the spectators themselves part of the events narrated. A journey of adventure, partly by coach, partly on foot, the performance is full of excitement and drama, as the audience interact with the actors, and take part in the action. Everyone, of every nationality, can enjoy and be involved in this fascinating show, since several languages are used by the actors.

Takes place from August 10 to the Sunday after August 15, the Palio of the Terzieri. After the opening competition on August 15, the Terzieri of Borgo Dentro, Castello and Casalino have a parade through the city streets to St. Lucy's Field for the Bow Competition. The historic parade of about 700 people in Renaissance costume has acrobats, tumblers, fire-eaters and flag twirlers.
